A Winchester-based studio with a quiet reputation, working across Hampshire, the Home Counties and beyond on private gardens, country houses and estates.
A well-designed garden can be transformative. It should stimulate and delight, inspire and capture the imagination — whilst providing beauty and joy for all those who experience it, in every season of the year.

Read MoreTaylor Tripp is a leading landscape design practice based in Winchester with a reputation for creating elegant English country gardens — gardens that are both beautiful and timeless. Our work is firmly rooted in the tradition of classic garden design and informed by an enduring curiosity about how gardens evolve.
Led by Nicholas Tripp and a small, dedicated team, the studio works on private gardens, country houses and estates across Hampshire, the Home Counties and beyond — including ongoing collaborations on the Leckford Estate and with Houghton Lodge Gardens. We continue to advise on many of the gardens we have designed for years after planting, and several of our client relationships now span more than seventeen years.
Influence comes from the very best in the field — from Gertrude Jekyll through to Piet Oudolf, whose Scampston Hall planting we revisit often. The result is gardens with structure, atmosphere and abundance — gardens that earn their keep in every season.
Our Design Process →Founder · Director
Nicholas founded Taylor Tripp and leads the practice from the Winchester studio. With long-standing client relationships and a deep horticultural knowledge, he steers each garden from first conversation through to long-term care.
Senior Designer
Richard works alongside Nicholas on the studio's largest projects, with a particular interest in structural planting and the influence of Piet Oudolf. Recent study trips include Scampston Hall and Houghton Lodge.
Design & Planting
The wider Taylor Tripp team brings together planting designers, horticulturalists and project coordinators — supporting every garden from initial site survey to detailed planting plans and aftercare.
Garden Management
Our gardens are designed to evolve — and we continue to advise on the gardens we plant for years to come. Many of our client relationships are well into their second decade.
